From Your Pastor: Well the long awaited summer has finally arrived, and for the next couple of months we will take a break from the regular routine of parish life. We have had a very busy and successful year of pastoral and social activities here at St. Agnes. I want to thank all who have given of their time, talent and treasure through out the year, the many volunteers, staff and those engaged in various ministries. The value of being able to take time to rest from the routine of daily life is not to be underestimated, and is indeed a blessing in itself. Jesus says to his Apostles in Mark’s Gospel: "Let us go off by ourselves to some place where we can be alone and you can rest awhile" (Mk.31). Wherever that some place is for you, visiting with family, travel, sports etc., I pray that you and your families will have a relaxing and safe summer and return to our regular routine in September, refreshed and renewed. Remember though, "Sunday belongs to the Lord," always. -- Fr. John Williams
Wishing you and yours Rev. Father Jose Thomas - Assistant Priest:
Fr. Jose enrolled in the Theology program at St. Peter's Seminary in 2004. After two years of study, he spent a year of Pastoral Internship at St. Ignatius Parish in Bedford. Following his pastoral year, he returned to the seminary to complete another year. Fr. Jose was ordained as a deacon at St. Ignatius Church in Bedford on May 11, 2007. Following his ordination, he spent a summer placement at Blessed Pope John XXIII Parish in Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia. He then returned the seminary for his final year and was ordained to the priesthood by Archbishop Anthony Mancini on June 14th 2008. He then went Truro in August 2008 and has been enjoying his work as an assistant priest at Immaculate Conception with the missions for the last two years. Fr. Jose notes two things about himself: "I love Jesus and the Church." His favorite verse from the Scripture is "You did not choose me, but I chose you" (John 15.16).
